True North festival workshops on 9/10 September

Learn songwriting and sound production at NESCOL

As part of this year’s True North festival, Aberdeen Performing Arts are running workshops on songwriting and sound production at North East Scotland College in Aberdeen on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September.

True North: Songwriting Masterclass
NESCOL Basement Theatre
Saturday 9 September
Ages 14-18

Scottish singer-songwriter Findlay Napier will curate a workshop for young songwriters aged 14-18 years old.

He will take the participants through a step-by-step songwriting process, from the frustration of a blank page to the satisfaction of a finished song.

This workshop is open to any level of songwriter. As long as you can write, listen and have hummed along to a song before, you’ll be able to take part. Book your place here.

True North: Sound Production Masterclass
NESCOL Basement Theatre
Saturday 9 to Sunday 10 September
Ages 16-25

Nick Turner from Watercolour Music will see students go through the motions of producing an entire song with an in-house band, from beginning to end, with all the steps demonstrated and explained in detail.

The industry standard SSL Audio Soundscape software will be used exclusively, and students will see first-hand the possibilities and creative aspects that the software can induce on music. Book your place here.
