Collaborate/Educate: CPD Opportunity for Artists

Creative Learning/Education Scotland opportunity in Aberdeen

Deadline: Sunday 28 January 2018 at 23:55

Collaborate/Educate is an exciting Professional Development opportunity for artists working in any artform to develop their professional practice in an education context.

Six places are offered for artists working in any artform seeking to develop their practice in an education context. Working alongside six probation year teachers in Aberdeen City, participants will train alongside each other, share practice and explore creative approaches to the curriculum at primary school level.

Working with musician and educator Pauline Black, participants will explore the creativity agenda in Scottish Education, investigate ways of working collaboratively across the two professions and have the opportunity to develop & trial a collaborative creative learning idea live in the classroom.

The programme aims to improve participants' understanding and application of the creativity agenda to their work in schools and improve both artists’ and teachers’ confidence in working creatively and collaboratively within education.

Programme dates (sessions will run from 4:00- 5:30pm and attendance at all sessions is required):

Monday 19th Feb; Monday 26th Feb; Monday 19th March; Monday 26th March; Monday 7th May.

Additionally, ‘live’ sessions in schools will take place w/c 23rd April, date and time to be arranged. These sessions will take place in the classroom, with artists & teachers pairing up to co-devise and deliver a creative session.

Participating artists will receive a small fee of £150 to support this, allowing for 2 hours of preparation time (additional to twilight CPD sessions) + one half day of co-developed project delivery in school. This is part of the programme and included to support deeper learning and reflection.

There will also be the opportunity to undertake an Arts Across Learning Festival observation for those who chose to do so, between 5th - 16th March, to observe a creative workshop practice in a primary school setting.

All twilight sessions will be delivered in Aberdeen, at Creative Learning’s studio space at Rosemount Learning Centre, Belgrave Terrace, AB25 2NS. There is no cost to attend Collaborate/Educate. The programme is jointly funded by Aberdeen City Council and Education Scotland’s Creative Learning Network Programme.
